Parachutes
Parachute games get every child on their feet so that they’re excited to join in and have their turn under the canopy. Give everyone a section to hold and wave up and down and you’ll be able to help them improve their listening skills and perfect their teamwork. You could create patterns with the parachute waves, call out a song, or count the number of waves up and down. At the same time two lucky contestants will be racing to find counters or bean bags underneath the canopy.
Showing the importance of patience is also something you can do here. You’ll give a real-world example of how everyone can benefit from teamwork and that waiting your turn is the fair thing to do. Every child will get excited to have a go and see if they can beat the fastest time to retrieve all of the items.
You don’t have to do treasure hunt type games if you don’t want to. Use the parachute to call out different colours to hop to, as a giant play mat, or to make a massive hiding spot. The only limit here is your own imagination and it will bring some incredible games to life before you know it.
Each kid who gets to go under the parachute will come back out a hero as they’re cheered on by their friends. A great way to boost confidence and show them they can do anything they set their mind to.
